Discovering more about tropical fish can help you select the appropriate types for your aquarium. Types Of Tropical Fish That Can Live Together For this first group of different types of tropical fish, a 15 gallon warm water tank is advised. This group of fish does well together, but will not get along with any other fish. The Neon Tetras and Glowlight Tetras are two that will work well together. The Neon Tetra is a colorful fish that will add to any aquarium. Some of the other types of tropical fish that will go well with this group include, Harlequin Rasboras, White Clouds, Fancy Guppies, Corydoras Catfish, Glass Fish and Honey Gouramis. The Corydoras Catfish is an algae eater that can help with the care of the aquarium, but will still need manual assistance in keeping the aquarium clean. Fancy Guppies are another fish that will add color and flare to an aquarium. These fish have tails that fan out, giving them a floating appearance. Another group of types of tropical fish that will do well together include Barbs, Gouramis, Sharks, Eels and Loaches. All of these fish are aggressive, but can live together. They will need a large tank, probably around 30 gallons to start out with, but be prepared to move these types of tropical fish to a bigger tank as they grow. They also need a warm water environment. There are a variety of shark species that can be placed in this kind of aquarium. Some sharks that will do well include the Bala Shark, the Rainbow Shark and the Bandid Hifin Shark. With these types of tropical fish, they generally grow to be anywhere from 3 inches to 15 inches long.
