If your hobby is to keep tropical fish, you will often find that your enjoyment may be marred when your tropical fish come down with some diseases that bring you down to earth once more. There are a number of tropical fish diseases that you should be aware of and for which you should know the proper treatment of. A common tropical fish disease would be when your tropical fish begin to show signs of losing their appetite. A new fish in the tank can often refrain from eating because of the new environment or they may not eat due to stress. Use Waster Tester And Be Patient In the case of a problem with the environment, you should check your fish for any tropical fish diseases and for this you may need to purchase a waster tester. On the other hand, if the problem is related to stress, you will simply have to exercise patience with the tropical fish which should soon regain their appetite – otherwise check for the presence of tropical fish diseases. A common tropical fish disease is the presence of small white spots on the body, head as well as fins of the tropical fish which is aptly named as white spot disease. This common tropical fish disease is often noticed in a new aquarium and adding a teaspoon of salt per gallon of water could be used to treat the disease. Another tropical fish disease is that the fish develop whitish film over their eyes and the cause may be nothing worse than contaminated or poor quality water, and even chlorine poisoning as well as eye fluke. If the quality of water is poor, all that you will need to do is change the water. In case there is chlorine poisoning, you will need to condition tap water prior to using it, and for eye fluke, you will need to use the correct medication as advised by a veterinarian. There are also tropical fish diseases that are related to the effect of cotton wool on the body of the tropical fish which could be fungus or mouth fungus, and the best cure for this tropical fish disease would no doubt be to use anti-fungus medication as well as give them a salt bath by adding a tablespoon of salt per gallon of water. You may also notice another tropical fish disease that is called pop eye and which is seen as cloudy eyes that are a result of infection, or the eyes will start to protrude from the head and the cause of this tropical fish disease could be bacteria, poor quality of water as well as deficiency in vitamins. This disease is quite hard to treat though you may use broad spectrum antibiotics for curing the fish.
